“I… beseech you that you walk worthy of the calling with which you are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” -- Ephesians 4:1-3.
We are been called by God for a special purpose. Everyday, we are presented with a bundle of choices and our daily choices determine if we are worthy of the calling. As children of King Jesus, we are called to walk in His humble footsteps.
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” -- Luke 19:10.
“For Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps” -- 1 Peter 2:21.
When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, everything we do will be accomplished with lowliness, meekness, and long-suffering. That means our homes, workplaces, neighborhoods, and churches will become better places because these attributes are being displayed by God’s children (you and I). No longer will we be pushing and shoving to take positions of power and recognition. As children of the King, we will be patient with each other because of love, “endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Please take this message and apply it to your life in this order…
1. Your Home - Strive to make your home a safe place for spiritual, mental, and physical development. If you are trying your best to be like Jesus, but your spouse continues to be aggressive, you can choose once and for all to be the “better person” or the one who doesn’t give in to the fighting and bickering. Just listen and calmly do whatever it take to create peace. Jesus taught us that we are to go the extra mile, and that goes for the marriage also.
2. Your Workplace (or school) - As a child of the King, you have been called to shine for Him in your workplace. This means you are not going to compromise your faith to “fit-in” with your peers. Ask God to give you the desire and power to stand up for Him, even if it hurts. Try to make friends, without compromising your faith, and once you have won their confidence, you will be able to feed their hungry soul. Be bold and invite your boss and co-workers to church programs.
3. Your Church - If you are truly living out your faith in the home and workplace, you will then be able to shine for Jesus in your church. We need more “Christians” in our churches. True Christians will not just sit and warm a pew once a week for tradition sake, pick fights with their fellow church members, gossip, complain, whine, and allow the devil to use them to create disunity in the body of Christ. True Christians will do all things with “all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
4. Volunteer - Serve, serve, serve….. Find a way to serve God in the church and community. This selfless type of service will help you keep your eyes on Jesus and assist those in need of Jesus. Your church has something for you do… just ask. Try to volunteer at least one hour in the community every week (homeless, nursing home, hospital, orphanage, Bible studies, etc.) As you live like Jesus and serve others, you will receive peace-of-mind, hope, understanding, wisdom, and joy.
SMILE - JESUS LOVES YOU!!!
